Georgie has been dancing for around 19 years, many of which were spent training at Legs. Through Legs, she was provided with many exciting performance opportunities, including the Children’s International Culture and Arts Festival in Tianjin, China (2012 & 2015), onboard the Carnival Victory Cruise Ship (2014) and at Disney World in Orlando, Florida (2014). Whilst in Canberra, Georgie also had the opportunity to perform with local theatre companies in shows such as Mary Poppins (2015 – Free Rain Theatre Company), The Little Mermaid (2016 – Free Rain Theatre Company), Aladdin The Pantomime (2016 – MEB Entertainment and Events) and Wicked (2016 – Free Rain Theatre Company). In 2017, Georgie moved to Sydney to further her study of dance, singing and acting, completing her Advanced Diploma of Performing Arts at ED5 International in 2018 and The Dream Dance Company’s Show Business Course in 2019. Whilst there, she had the privilege of performing at many events, such as the Arnotts Foundation Gala (2018), the Save Our Sons Gala (2018), as a back up dancer to Marcia Hines and Minnie Cooper (2018) and also as a Clown at Luna Park (2019). Upon moving back to Canberra, Georgie is excited to have been cast in Free Rain Theatre’s production of Mamma Mia, onstage later this year.
Georgie’s favourite colour is yellow, her favourite food is chips and salsa and her favourite holiday destination is New York.
A fun fact about her is that she has completed Sign Language 1.
What excites her most about teaching is the opportunity to inspire students to love the performing arts and work hard to improve themselves. Her goal for Legs for 2020 is to provide a nurturing and encouraging environment where dancers can continue to grow and improve, especially when it comes to expressing not only with their faces but their whole bodies. She is also aiming for polish, consistency and confidence in performance, with her personal motto being ‘practise makes progress’.
I started my love of dance as a young four year old with a passion for music and movement. After completing all my tap and jazz advanced examinations I focused on classical ballet and contemporary. These studies became full time in Sydney and continued to Germany and New Zealand where I was awarded my A.R.A.D Solo Seal. After several years focusing on classical and working in New Zealand and Hong Kong I then followed my love of musical theater and moved to London. I was then fortunate to work with West End producers and performed Broadway musicals with Royal Caribbean International.
I am thrilled to be home and preparing for my next chapter in life and excited to teach dance and conditioning for ‘Legs’.
I have a few favourite colours including white, yellow and khaki.
My favourite food is Haagen Dazs ‘Salted Caramel’ Ice cream and pasta Carbonara.
My two favourite destinations are any Australian beaches or European adventure.
Funny fact about myself is no matter how much chocolate I eat I can always have more!
I love teaching so I may inspire and encourage a passion for dancing and with this hope to pass on some of the amazing technique I have been taught by many international tutors.
